Use a product called Bengal for roaches. I know it sounds weird but I sprayed in earlier in the Spring when I saw some ants and I haven't seen anymore since. You can get in at Amazon. It is about $14 a can, but it will get rid of them.

You can try spreading diatomaceous earth around your yard and the perimeter of the house. It is safe for kids and pets. This is a crushed shells and coral. It cuts the ants exoskeleton causing them to dehydrate. You can even sprinkle it on your carpet to kill ticks and fleas. If you have any trees close to the house the ants may be coming in off of those. I had a issue with ants on a crab apple tree getting in upstairs.

Here in Oregon we have the same problem, the thing I found worked the best is.... I spray the foundation of my house and around doorways with a Carpenter Ant and Termite spray in a pump bottle I got at True Value. I do this in spring and fall. I wear gloves and a mask. Inside if I have an outbreak like I did this year cause I was late in spraying, I use EcoSense or Victors natural ant spray, its mostly mint, and it kills them dead on contact, and then I wipe the area with the overspray and a paper towel, the minty residue repells them, so I do the cubboard bottoms and the trash can.

If you're paying for pest services, then perhaps it's time to get a new service? Or consult with your current pest service (if you haven't already) to discuss other options they may have to eradicate your problem.

Boric Acid...not for any place animals can get into it! We had the same problem. I wet square cotton makeup removers with the Boric Acid and placed the cotton square at each juncture wher the ants were crawlping into the kitchen...I had several hundred tiny coffins to make!

I agree with the diatomaceous earth...also good for chickens to fluff in because it gets rid of mites.

I use peppermint oil (essential oil type), put about 4 to 10 drops into a spray bottle (amount of drops depends upon severity of infestation ) and spray around where I have seen the ants enter. I also spray around doors, windows, underneath the sink, in some cabinets, and basement. The plus was that I used the peppermint oil for ants; hpwever it kept cockroaches, silverfish, and other bugs away, too!

Ants are drawn to water, so ensure you don't have water leaks. Water leaks will also damage wood. We use a spray on product called "Home Defense" around our house for all kinds of bugs.
