Closet Rods for triangle roof

I have an old house that has no closets but lots of "attic storage". Would like to install closet rods in these areas but the roof slants and there are no exposed beams. Using the metal brackets puts the rod out too far, so I would have to move them to a lower area which means my dresses would be on the floor. Any ideas on how to hang a rod? Hanging them vertically would mean the bar would be less than 12 inches wide. Help!!!

Can you put a rolling rack?
You say you have no exposed beams just beadboard. You could glue and nail wooden cleats into the beadbord. You could also try the different brackets. See videos below.
You could put the low stuff on the lower rod, and put your dresses where the book cases are. You could use a free standing bookcase and screw a rod into.
Alternatively, You could just put hooks up for your dresses. I had to do that in one apartment. I just put the hangers on the hooks...I only had 4-5 dresses though.
A great deal depends on the angle of your roof. You will have to bring any hanging bar out enough for the back of the hanger to clear the wall. The picture with the shelf offers additional storage if your slope is not too severe.
I found a site that will give you an idea of what you can do to the attic to turn it into a closet and everything you would need. Looks like a fun project.

Try hanging a clothes bar from the ceiling using chains. You could insert a hook into the ceiling rafters, use a wooden closet rod, place eye screws on each end, use S hooks to attach chains to each hook/screw. This way you can take advantage of the slant without having to compromise on the height.
