How to clean aluminum mini blinds

Suz
by Suz
They are in good shape and were custom made (years ago) so I hate to toss them...but they are in need of cleaning. I can't take them down to wash in the bathtub because the strings are too fragile and they are too big.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try either Vac or Hairdryer for dust!

A damp (soapy if necessary) sock or dryer sheet work well.

Car sponge, towels below to catch any drips, close one way and wipe, and then close the other way and wipe. I use Dollar Tree Awesome Orange... it cuts through anything. Wear gloves.

Hello Sjcb; If I were you, I would try this method!!!

Add of few drops of dawn dish soap into a bucket.

    Fill it with water.

I would use a cloth. I would and dunk it in the mixture, wring well.

I would then wipe down the entire blind slats.

I hope that this helps you!!!!! Take Care!

I just cleaned my wooden slat blinds and the same method would work on metal. First. Vacuum the blinds using a brush attachment (both sides). Then wet a soft rag in soapy water (I used Pinesol in my water). Wipe the blinds by wrapping the cloth so you can clean both sides at once.

I have wooden venetian style blinds on the front windows of our house.I have found the best thing is a glove that is made of microfibre. It's best not to let them get too dusty. But I have found this the best way.

All good idea but your biggest concern will be to clean them without "crimping" the aluminum and without slicing your fingers. Be careful while working and when you feel antsy, stop for awhile so there aren't any accidents.

That's exactly what happened to my micro-venetian blinds. I hated them. Perhaps with these type of blinds, if you put behind the blinds where you are cleaning, something, that will stop the blinds from bending; say a plastic bread board. Nevertheless, it'll take time. Horrible job.

no matter what you do it will take time to clean them

once you have them cleaned the trick is to keep them that way
