Have an old magazines laying around that are ready for recycle? Why not nab a mug from a thrift or dollar store and make a cute personalized magazine mug.
Start by nabbing some Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge (note: regular Mod Podge will not work for this.)
Start by nabbing some Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge (note: regular Mod Podge will not work for this project.)

Then cut out any desired lettering or shapes from the magazines.
Sponge brush on a layer of Mod Podge on the mug in the desired location and stick on the cutouts. Allow to dry for about 2 hours and then sponge brush a layer on top of the cutouts. Allow to dry for another two hours and add a second layer. Repeat process (drying between each layer), adding at least three top layers. Allow to to cure fully ( 28 days) prior to washing.

You can use this process to create an art collage mug or one that says anything you want. The only limit is your imagination. I chose to make an "I 'heart' Bob" mug for my college age daughter as a birthday gift but as far as I'm aware of she doesn't even know anyone that is ACTUALLY named "Bob." She busted out laughing when she saw it and absolutely loved it.

If you are a mother, grandmother, aunt or etc to a teenage or college age female, they may have a few "Bobs" floating around too! icon You can learn more about the adventures of "Bob" and why you may need one too using thee link below!

Until next time, happy upcycling, my friends!

Note: Stated project cost includes price of the mug only. I had all other crafts supplies on hand from another project.
