Paint for an enclosed porch

Kathy
by Kathy
I'm finally getting ready to finish my front porch. It's completely enclosed and does not get any rain but it also isn't insulated. I'd like to paint the inside of the roof rather than put a ceiling in. Do I need to use exterior paint for this or can I use interior?

Use exterior paint and a good primer. Even though your area will not be getting direct moisture, the condensation can harm interior paint. The primer will help it go on evenly and stay on longer.

I used a pale blue exterior paint (because of humidity outside) and it looks like the sky. I added a few clouds and loved the effect.

  • I agree with Marilla - exterior paint. And painting the ceiling a sky blue will deter some bugs and pests too.

You should be able to get any color mixed you want in exterior paint. It will hold up with temperature changes, etc. I recently read an article about finishing a garage inside and those reasons were listed for using exterior paint.

Thank you. Exterior it is. I don't want to do all that work only to have it do it again.

    Hello Kathy,

Why not choose a Garden colour meant for fences. There are many colours to choose from including white, blue, pink & /yellow. Have fun!
