Hi Hometalkers, I'm still purging craft/diy stuff and I made a textured painting for my bedroom from a kitchen cabinet door with a glass insert.
I used the glass in this picture here but not this cabinet door, I have a white door I used on this project.
Spray paint used for glass insert.
I went, transparent blue, spray paint happy one dayicon and well, I needed to do something else with that piece of glass. No problem, I'll paint something over the transparent blue!
I have some long pieces of plain white paper I used to outline the inside of the cabinet door. That is marked, now to add a design.
I have a couple of boxes full of different shapes I made and used over the years for design and ideas. I will draw something and cut it out but that is a whole other subject.
These are the shapes I used to make the design.
I did several layouts and then decided on this look. Uniformed and simple. I could have just printed and copied a design off the internet icon but I wanted something of my own design.
This is my design, on paper, under the glass. Now I will trace the design onto the side of the glass that was spray painted. The acrylic paint will stick well to the spray paint and no other type of primer is needed.
Now what colors do I want icon ?
I think I will add this art to the bedroom so black, grey, white and blue work for me!
I still want something more... hmm ... what about some texture, yes that will work out great!! A little Country Chic texture will make the paint thick .
You will be able to feel your work!icon
Tracing is finished with very thick black. I can feel each line!icon
I made the paint about as thick as a melting milkshake, maybe a bit thicker. I also didn't get all the lumps out. I wanted it a bit lumpy and thick. icon
About half way finished!
This isn't like faux stained glass.
This is faux stained glass.
Just a few more touch ups and I'll be finished!
This is the back of the glass. All blue.
Put the glass back into the cabinet door and ...
Finished !! I icon my new art!!
I had already put D-rings on the back for hanging vertically or horizontally before this project.
This is just one type of texture painting, there are many. I'll show another one next weekicon !
I welcome all comments or questions! Thanks for looking!
