How to Upcycle a Cutie Crate Into Vintage Trunk and Stop Your Entryway

$25

This was my first ever successful DIY and upcycle. I wanted to update the final reveal pictures and share it with you as it’s been lost in the Pink Fortitude archives. You know those cutie clementines that come in the wooden crates? Well they are perfect for an upcycle project. This cutie crate was upcycled into a vintage trunk. You will never believe the before and after!
We had a little basket right inside the door to catch all of the wallets, phones, glasses, iPods, etc. And this is where everything goes. Solidarity anyone?
We have this awesome vintage trunk in our entry in lieu of a console table.  In my head, I was going to create this incredible vintage trunk box to collect all of the door clutter.  The only problem – I have not been blessed with the DIY/Crafty gene. A four year-old can craft better than I can.  This one is a little more complicated and took a little more time, but trust me, if I can do it, so can you!
Here’s what I started with:
Cutie/Clementine Crate
Pleather/Vinyl Material
Hardware
Suede and Velvet Ribbon
I cut and glued and yes, even used the staple gun when things weren't working out. (no judgement please).
It took about 3 hours to make and a total of $25 in supplies, but this is the big TA-DA. Do you like how it coordinates with the vintage trunk?
