Hello Hkmilch; I actually have a book that I purchased about this craft.
You can pretty much make anything out of them, and they are quite Beautiful when they are placed together.
It takes a bit of time, as I take the ties apart. There is a small piece of fabric that is inside of each tie. I remove this, and lightly iron the tie flat.
You can make anything that you can think of!!!!
(Place mats, Table runners, Skirts, Holiday items, Tops) Just to name a few!!!

my aunt used my grandfathers ties to make a memory pillow. she opened the tie and cut quitting squares sewed them together to make 1 side and used other material for the 2 nd. side. all the grandchildren love them
