Create a fun yet easy DIY Fall sign for your front porch. Choose your colors for a unique sign and make it your own.
Start with a board stained or painted in your choice of colors. Lay out your lettering and transfer to the board. (on darker colors I use white graphite paper and on lighter colors I use a darker graphite paper) My blog post lists my favorites. I also include a link to a downloadable file for the letters in my blog post
On this sign I added the drop shadow element to create shadows which gives a 2 D appearance. I also used subtle shading on the letters for even more dimension.
On this sign I used Fall Oak leaves in place of the A but if you prefer you could instead make the sign larger and use the leaves above and/or below the lettering.
Add details to the leaves to give them more pop. This is very forgiving and even beginning painters can be successful with this.
Add a few speckles to the leaves and/or lettering for added texture.
When you put them all together you have a fun Fall sign. The blog post also links to the step by step on how to paint the acorns.
Happy Painting.
