New Life to Bedroom Dresser

I've disliked our dressers for a few years. Purchased new in the 90's, they are not "old" by any means. They are solid pieces, and I hated to go buy new again. Instead, I brought out my husband's sander and began to work on them.
I had some varnish and black paint laying around the house from other projects, so I used that on them. After the paint dried, I did a layer of burnishing glaze on it, which made the flat black paint look kind of satin. The top drawer has a little decorative shell *for lack of better word,* and it was hard to see after sanding and varnish, so I took a black sharpie and drew over it to make it pop again. Now assembled, I am not sure I like the color of the drawer pulls. I may find myself painting them also before too long.
Before. Not missing a drawer, picture was an after thought once I started sanding the first drawer.

Finished dresser, it's mate will be started soon.
