DIY Brushed Steel Cabinet Desk

Kelly S refinished an old metal file cabinet to look like brushed steel! This is a great way to add a little jazz to your furniture. Show us your remodeled dorm room furniture, desk and more on FB for a chance to be featured.
First you want to clean the furniture well with White Lightning.
To achieve this exact look you will get your brush damp and then start to apply the Mason Dixon Gray in an even layer.
For the second coat get your brush wet and then dip into Midnight Sky. Dab off most of the paint and using a wispy motion sweep some of the paint on.
As you can see the piece has a lot more color with the 2 layers of paint. The final layer was a touch of Best Dang Wax in the color Brown. Kelly used the same technique to paint the shelf brackets and this is the look!
Here is the final look! A desk was attached to the top and a minimalist office area was born!

Agreed! Floating shelves would have created a more finished project. Shelves are too thin, brackets too distracting. Love the desk and cabinet thou☺️

How well does the paint last? I like to try in on some old metal cabinets in my kitchen.
Great job. Just wondering, though, why so many brackets under the shelves above it? I see the shelves are really thin, but it still seems like overkill and it really distracting!
