Some solar lights come with spikes attached to them. If you have a fairly rotted stump, or if not you could drill a hole fairly easily. They are as easy to set out as any decor in the yard.

if your stump is fairly fresh drill the hole so the widest part of the the solar spike will fit tightly. as the stump dries you may need to support the light with sand in the hole. there are drill bits known as hole saws, you might also need to drill a starter hole. some areas have tool lending libraries, and will coach you on the use and safety features. eye protection and some times heavy gloves are needed.

  • Or a hamer and chisel to carve out enough to either set the entire post or just the top.
