How to make twin bed head boards?

My twin beds have no head boards-- I don't want rustic ones or velvet ones and not more than two feet above the bed, Any ideas?

MDF Board and a couple of 1 x 4" boards in what ever length you need cut to attach to the bed frame. MDF is light weight, no 'grain' and paints beautifully. cut to a height that is appropriate for the space.

Rather than headboards, why not hang something like a picture, a quilt or whatever strikes your fancy. In one bedroom, I have a wood carving over the bed.

How about a bolster, maybe made from a body pillow?

Like Linda said, we used bead board , cut to size, one single and one full , and framed them with one by one from crates. Then painted them to match the boys rooms .

I've seen on Pinterest some have painted the walls of scenes or children's names above the beds. Looks really cute!

Buy some wicker placemats, spray paint them or leave as is, then tack them on wall behind bed.

If you can paint, draw and paint a headboard on wall. Depending on cash flow, you can take foam core boards and little batting and fabric ,cover and hang on wall.doors make great headboards .take washi tape or that colorfull tape and just stripe walls in color choices, and put a molding around that.have fun

I've used cut pieces of styrofoam insulation (it comes in a flat sheet like plywood, but much lighter and easier to cut), then used a bit of fabric to cover it (battling optional), just duck tape to the back and use industrial-strength velcro to attach to wall. Looks surprisingly good, and crazy cheap. Easy to change fabric later too.
