Join us on Hometalk's official Facebook page for a step by step tutorial on how to get a brushed steel look with Dixie Belle Paint and Products. This tutorial also gives you tips and tricks on how to paint NEW laminate. We wanted to show you how to get custom looks on these organizers which can really make a space feel special no matter if it is a home office, work place, dorm room, laundry room, etc.
This 3-cube organizer was purchased at Walmart for around $20.
It comes in white, black and faux wood look. These style options are quite limiting. Keep reading to learn how to make your 3 cube organizer custom!
The very first step is to apply BOSS. Boss blocks odors, stains and stops bleed thru. It also has gripping qualities that provide a great surface for Dixie Belle Paint to adhere to.

This is NEW laminate which means that the finish is completely intact. On old and worn laminate this is not the case and it is much easier to paint. We wanted to show you how to get custom looks on these organizers which can really make a space feel special no matter if it is a home office, work place, dorm room, laundry room, etc.
After 2 coats of BOSS you can apply your first coat of paint. We will be using Manatee Gray. Manatee Gray is an excellent shade of gray with cool undertones.
After the first coat has dried you can apply the second coat of Dixie Belle Paint in Manatee Gray. Just like the gentle giants, this tropical color. Manatee Gray is a refreshing, aquatic gray, it will most definitely bring a calming ease to any room or office you wish to add this magnificent color!!
Make sure to completely cover your piece with BOSS including the inside if you plan to paint the bin area. For a bright pop of color we used Plum Crazy.
Plum Crazy is our deepest shade of pink, it is certain to make that special piece of furniture look absolutely brilliant! Its bold, fun and you will never get tired of looking at this inviting color.
This is the FUN part. After the two coats of Manatee Gray has dried you will want to use Dixie Belle Glaze to get a brushed steel appearance. Hi Ho Silver Glaze is the perfect glaze for this look.

Very nice! It's such a lovely way of purchasing affordable storage units and turning them into something even a teenager would find cool!
