Everybody has an old chair lying around and to look at it it's quite Dreadful I couldn't figure out what to do with it do I reupholster it do I paint it what do I do now the fabric is in excellent condition but old dingy would not my Cuppa tea. Vintage furniture are so much better than your traditional furniture that you get that's particle board there are so many things you can do with vintage furniture hopefully you like this lovely piece
So I first I sanded the chair get any rough edges off then I wiped it down with a dry cloth then I primed it with some Rust-Oleum black paint I couldn't figure out what color to paint it do I reupholster the cushion or do I find an heirloom white paint and paint it and distress it
The cane is in excellent condition it doesn't hold paint very well so you have to use several coats and you have to be patient it took three coats to completely cover
Here is another vintage chair that I plan to repaint I am not redoing the reupholstering but wanted to post some more chairs because looking at this it's quite grab don't you agree and if I paint it white wouldn't it look fabulous
And here's another chair great bones but it's just absolutely ugly now wouldn't you agree leave the upholstery and paint it white what are your thoughts
Suggested materials:
  • Well the answer is simple I decided to paint it then lightly sand it to give it a distressed shabby chic Victorian look then I polyurethane sealed it and wow I absolutely love this chair   (I purchased this in the State Fair I'm also showing additional photographs of future projects)
