Do you have golden oak cabinets? If you love them, awesome! If you hate them, you have options! If your cabinets are in good shape, why in the world would you rip them out and send them to the landfill? Check out this oak cabinet makeover we just completed for a customer and then keep reading for the step by step tutorial.
Here is a picture of the kitchen the day we started. You can see it is full of golden oak. Our plan is to break up all of that wood by painting the cabinets.
The first step is to remove all cabinet hardware, doors and drawers. Make sure to label them to make it easy to reinstall when your are finished.
We prepped everything off including the floor, countertops and walls. Click here to see a full tutorial on how to prep your cabinets for paint.
Once the cabinets are prepped, you are ready to prime. We are using the Homeright sprayer to prime and paint this kitchen. It makes it super quick and easy.
Let the primer dry 24 hours before painting.
Choose a high-quality paint, applying 2-3 coats. This paint is Sherwin Williams Pro Classic Hybrid tinted Benjamin Moore's OC-17 White Dove.
