When we first bought the house, it had the original tile counter tops from when the house was built back in 1955. We knew right away that we needed to redo the kitchen. Painting the tiles was the first project, which led to a bit more!
This is the original tile counter top it was ok, but bland and needed an update.
I bought epoxy paint and painted 3 coats (letting them dry at least 24 hours between coats) and finished them off with a clear polyurethane coat.
Next, I painted the lower cabinets turquoise. At the time, I "thought" I was finished with the project

Then, I saw some "peel and stick" tiles on Amazon and decided to re-do the backsplash area.
I ran the tiles all the way up above the sink.
I'm glad we went for it! Look at all of the colors!
We purchased a faucet set at Home Depot...
And installed some mason jar lights we found on Etsy. We added some small little touches here and there and voila!
And our kitchen looks like a totally different kitchen! We love it!

Love the tile color and pattern! As someone else commented, I was sure you were going to remove the the wooden valance and the quarter round shelves. Very outdated. It would really clean up the window area and let the glass panel shine through. Perhaps do some moulding panels on the base cabinets? Add some depth to the doors. You can still do the cloth valance. Just move it up to the ceiling. It will make the window appear to be taller. That’s a good thing. That being said, nice project!

I have a question about the peel and stick tile. When you placed them up to the ceiling where you didn't have tile already, did you just stick these to the wall? I assume with the backsplash being tiled, they stuck well there, but wondered how well they stick to a painted wall surface.
How did you finish the edges on the tile where the join the wall under the cabinets?
Did you use some type of trim to finish those raw edges?
No criticism, but in the next to the last picture the valance was striped and in all the other pictures the valance is white. Which did you ultimately use? I like the white the best. Of course I'm a lover of white anyway.
