I have my laundry room's number. It's about to get the makeover treatment to make it more efficient, more organized, and not so scary! I can't change the size, but I can do a lot on a $100. Head over to Two It Yourself to see my full makeover plan. http://www.twoityourself.com/2014/02/help-my-laundry-closet-needs-makeover.html

Hi Melissa! A great suggestion would be styrofoam ceiling tiles. They are light, easy to DIY and so affordable on your budget. Plus they provide insulation and help keep the noise in/out just in case your machines are loud. Check out www.ceilingtilesbyus.com You can also use PVC tiles or backsplash which are very affordable and beautiful as well!

This is a small folding shelf-below, I got at Ikea so I would have a place to fold laundry in my house-before this, every basket of clean laundry was dumped onto the couch. I also buy my detergent at BJ's, Costco,

I pour my liquid soap into a smaller container, so it's not so difficult to handle. You may consider that instead of the spout on the container. Also, a smaller shelf under the shelf for shorter bottles and dryer sheets. But not so deep as to interfere with opening the washer. You could use pretty baskets to store things in too. I wash down the washer and dryer real good on a weekly basis using a towel when the washer is filling up with hot soapy water and towels. Mostly a few specks of soap and dust - not really dirty, but keeps the area looking fresh and neat, and it only takes a few minutes!

We have a heater in the garage we use if it gets too cold and it seems to stay around 40 all winter. I hate hearing that front loader come in for a landing like an airplane!!!

You could put another shelf below the high one for items rarely used. The lower shelf could be used for items you use all the time. Is there space for a folding step ladder? You could use that to reach the top shelf when you have to. You could also use baskets to organize your stuff, if they don't take too much space. It also looks like there is a small space to the right of the washer or drier to mount a hook that you may use to get items out of the drier to hang right away. Good luck.

your laundry room is the same as mine, and the longer lower cabinets would be ideal!

Pretty it up with pop of color, change functional light to pretty and functional light. Also surround shelve the washer and dryer to avoid the dreaded missing sock catastrophe. Directly above it for everyday use. Pinterest site has options galore. Many with the above mentioned ideas. Plan to do the same to my boring poor functioning closet with the addition of clothes rack for hang drying. Hop this helps!
