Had an emergency appendectomy before I was able to clean the glass, and now the glass is stained. How can I clean the run stained glass?

TSP is not to be used any where near glass or mirrors, it will etch it......that will never come off.....

You could try steam cleaning the glass.

I would try CLR, you can get it in a spray bottle at the Dollar Tree. I would also pick up a bottle of Awesome Orange, it will clean just about anything. And get one of those soft green abrasive pads.

Try some white (not gel) toothpaste and a damp cloth. A dab of toothpaste on the cloth and gently rub in a circular motion. Keep the toothpaste moist.

Concentrated TSP, or TSP allowed to dry on glass can cause etching. If that has happened the damage may be irreversible. Hydrofluoric and phosphoric acids are better known etching agents, but trisodium phosphate, while slower, can also severely damage glass. If you view the glass surface with a magnifying glass you will see if the surface has etched, or if it is indeed a film.

    Suggestion on a TSP package......

    1. Prepare a fresh weak solution of TSP and clean rags to clean the glass.......

    2. Re-wash the glass with fresh rags and Clean water.........

    3. Rinse the glass again with clean water and immediately BUFF the glass dry using soft paper toweling.......

There are some good suggestions here on an auto-detailing site that might prove helpful with your window glass. I've used the 0000 steel wool idea (make sure it's 0000 and not a lesser number or you can have scratches) on our car windows and was very pleased with the results.

Use brasso or a brass polish.

My dad told me this trick. It removes fine scratches in glass so it should help to polish off your stains

I ruined a bunch of my parents windows. I need to fix them and I really hope this works. I used a window cleaner from home depot that was also from wool. However my hose broke the end broke off and I wasn't able to attach the sprayer.. I thought it rinsed the windows.Good enough but after they dried the next day the windows are trashed. My mom is so upset and so am I and I really need to fix this before my dad sees it. I am older but I take care of my parents and do their yard work housework and stuff for them. And i'm just really feeling terrible that I ruined their windows.

I agree with William's suggestion of non-abrasive toothpaste. I wouldn't use TSP unless very, very diluted as it could etch the glass and make matters worse for you.

First, take an equal amount of vinegar and water and mix them together in a spray bottle. White distilled vinegar will work best for this. Then, spray the solution on your windows and let it sit for around two to three minutes. Lastly, use a gentle cloth to wipe away the cleaning solution and avoid any streaks.

Try using vinegar! Then put a cowl over window to stop direct external drip.

Hello PM, hope this helps you. TSP can etch glass and mirrors. You can try to steam this clean. but there is no way to repair the damage. If the glass is now cloudy because of TSP, you can attempt to remove the cloudiness using vinegar. Depending on the thickness of the glass and the amount of time the TSP sat on the glass, the cloudiness may only lighten, not completely disappear.
