I bought this dated gossip bench and wanted to update it and do something fun and bright!
This is what I started with - dark wood, vinyl seat cover - very dated but lots of character. I loved the basic design of the bench and have never seen one quite like this one.
I removed the seat and recovered the vinyl with a fun bright turquoise furry fabric that I found at Walmart.
I used chalk paint and painted the entire bench with Waverly Brand chalk paint (purchased at Walmart in the craft department) - the color was white. It took several coats of paint to cover the dark brown. Instead of waxing the topcoat, I applied a coat of water based polycrylic on the top.
I dipped the feet by painting them gold and added some gold paint trim to the spindles and the desk part of the bench. Then the fun recovered seat was ready to install.
Very pleased with the new updated look!
