$100 Before/After Shed Update

Do you have a spot outside that is just the biggest eyesore? For us, that spot was in front of our shed. You could see it from the road and not only was it dirty... it just had nothing special going on. For around $100 and a just a small portion of an afternoon, we were able to update the space to bring more curb appeal. I wish all projects could yield such great results with such a small budget and timeframe!
Our shed had a flower bed that had totally been neglected. Since living in the home ( 4+ years), the only thing we've ever done to this space was to clean the siding once. The flower garden area had gotten worse over time and it was driving me nuts.
The first thing we did was to clean the siding. We've done it two different ways now and both have worked great. Last year, we cleaned it without a power sprayer (check out my post on how to clean siding without a power washer!). It wasn't hard and didn't take long. This year, we actually had bought a power sprayer. *Affiliate link: We bought this one on Amazon. It was super affordable and we love it. Once the siding was cleaned, I went to Lowe's to find deer resistant / light & water tolerant plants. We have a lot of wildlife in our area, so looking for plants that are resistant to them is a HUGE plus.
I came home with (2) Cabaret Japanese Silver Grass Plants and (1) Hummingbird Bush. They were all supposed to be tolerant plants and are perennials.

Before planting them, we weeded the space and put down landscape barrier.

After planting them, we added mulch around the whole area.
After!!

You really have to scroll back up to the top picture to really get a good feel for how much this added to this space. Although the plants are small right now, they are supposed to grow about 3ft in all directions. I think another season or so and this space will be looking pretty darn good.

For just a few hours of our time and around $100, this change was a definite win. It totally has me on the hunt for other $100 afternoon projects that can drastically up our curb appeal.

**Update, this project was done in June and so far, the plants are going strong and they are not being eaten by the deer! Huge win over here.

I hope I inspired you to get started on your small outdoor update. I really believe that small projects can pack a punch and really add value to your curb appeal.

Nice, you can add stuff to the wall for deco so the wall doesn't look bare. Looks nice with plants. Good luck with the deer. The only thing I can grow is weeds & roses. Since I rent I don't want to plant flowers & have to leave them.
