If your lackluster fireplace has you frustrated then you've come to the right spot! Our tile stencils are an affordable and easy way to give a tired-looking fireplace a fresh new look. All you have to do is simply choose your favorite tile stencil and paint color. This simple project will give your fireplace a whole new look! Today we’re sharing a fireplace surround makeover painted with our Santa Ana Tile Stencil. Come take a look...
We'd like to introduce Sarah, a floral designer by trade and a crafty DIYer in her spare time. Sarah had been living with a bland fireplace for nearly five years. She disliked that it lacked personality and pattern. Here is what it looked like before.

Replacing the fireplace completely was not an option so Sarah turned to Pinterest for DIY ideas.  That's when she discovered our amazing Tile Stencil Collection! She browsed our large collection of tile patterns and selected our Santa Ana Tile Pattern. This beautiful pattern was inspired by traditional Spanish and Portuguese Azulejos tile designs.
The first thing Sarah did was clean the surround to ensure there wasn't any debris and then she prepped it with a strong no-peel primer.  We love STIX primer for projects like this one. When the primer was dry, she painted it using light blue hue. Cleaning and prepping a hearth properly is very important for a project like this.  With her stencil in hand, she was ready to start stenciling!
She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a stencil brush to paint the pattern in teal and gold. After each section was complete, Sarah would un-tape the stencil and reposition so she could paint the entire fireplace surround.
Using the same paint colors she used for the stencil, Sarah enhanced the base of the fireplace with a checkered pattern. Once the space was painted, Sarah applied two coats of a waterbased acrylic polyurethane to increase durability.
Are you ready to see how her project turned out? Here is Sarah's newly stenciled fireplace!
We think she did an amazing job transforming the fireplace surround.  Here is a sweet message that Sarah sent us about her project, " I want to share my recent project in which I used your Santa Ana Stencil on my fireplace surround. I think it turned out great! Thank you for such a great product, and I'm sure to use you guys again if I need a unique stencil!"
