I was making those cute little leaf shaped jewelry dishes to give to my ladies group. You know, where you use the flattened air dry clay to use a leaf and a rolling pin for the impression, laying it over a bowl to let it dry into a curved shape? There's many posts on Hometalk doing this. Here's a photo of mine.
Jewelry dish drying
After each rollout of a large leaf for the dishes I realized I had so much clay left so I decided to make Christmas leaf ornaments! I rolled out the remaining bits of clay and using a hydrangea leaf and a rolling pin imprinted all the leaves I could out of the extra clay.
Smaller leaf to make ornaments.
After cutting around these smaller leaves, I used a straw to make the hole at one end of the leaf for ribbon to use to hang them.

I made all the leaves I could letting them air dry for the next 24 hours. You can see them all laying in the next picture drying.

Because I have time I'm not going to paint them until Closer to Christmas. I put them away for now and when ready to give as gifts I'll write the year on the back of each leaf with "a little touch of spring at Christmas" and also with the following picture.
The hydrangea plant the leaf came from.
On the back of each picture I'll write"The hydrangea bush your leaf came from!"
