I use meal moth traps,don't bring produce in that has moths flying around it, but the eggs also come in in flour,bird seed and other grain & spice products which if infested you need to get rid of or freeze.
Host carpet cleaner is the best. Won't brake down the factory stain resistant chemicals and safe for pets and children. leaves a light clean sent, kills fleas too.
Wash any fruit or veggies you leave on the counter as soon as you get home. Store flour, rice, nuts, just about everything in containers, not in the bags or boxes they come in. Get one of the products that you can put extra nuts, bird food, etc. into bags and draw out the air( seal a meal type machine). I have a bird and get larger bags of food and nuts and keep out about a weeks worth at a time and reseal the bag and have not had insects in them yet, they can't live without oxygen. I have a cedar chest for wool clothes and blankets and one of the closets in the basement is cedar lined.
We keep oatmeal, corn meal, rice, and other things that usually come infested with grain moths in the freezer, or put the box in the freezer for a week and then keep in sealable glass jars. Haven't had grain moths in 20 years.
Good old borax, the stuff in the laundry aisle, is great for killing anything that lives in carpets or upholstery, too, like fleas, carpet beetles, silverfish, moths... We never use poisons on our animals or bomb the house anymore, just sprinkle borax liberally on the rugs and behind the sofa cushions, etc., broom it in, and leave for four or five days. Then vacuum normally. Once a year does it, unless you send the rugs out to be cleaned, and then repeat. Nontoxic, won't hurt the animals or the babies on the rugs, no need to put away fruit bowl, fish tank, or the canary. Might want to cover the electronics because it might be a little dusty for them, though.
Agree with above, I put it in a glass jar, poke lots of holes in the top, shake it all over the rug including under furniture. Get some moving men at the hardware store to put under sofa legs etc. so they slide easily aside to sprinkle. Your looking for 20 Mule Team Laundry Borax. Leave 3 hours, then vacuum up.
I would like to know how to get rid those pesty little sink/drain flies. I've tried baking soda and vinegar, drain cleaners and put plastic over the drains.

I was always told wood ash sprinkled on the carpets, swept in and then vacuumed up would deter moths
