Negative Space Turns Into Positive Curb Appeal

The garage doors on our back cottage were made of steel and windowless. I had an idea do how to improve them but did not want to spend $80.00 to do so. Last week the magmetic panels that I needed were reduces from $10.00 per item to $4.00 each. I immediately bought eight of them and the fun began.
Original Garage Doors
I measured the raised portion of the door panels (12 X 16 1/4) and cut the magnetic sheets accordingly.
Using a TSquare and painters tape I created the panes (negative space). When tapping make sure you follow the same pattern. I chose to do the horizontal stripe first and then the vertical one last. You could make a more elaborate design but I chose not to.
I took the eight sheets outside and painted them with black flat paint that was suitable for plastic. I let the paint dry for five minutes and removed the tape
I hung them up on the doors to finish drying.
I will use the extra magnetic pieces to cut out shapes, numbers and letters for my grandchildrens an we will play school using a whiteboard instead of a blackboard

Why didn't you just tape off and paint the raised square of the door? I noticed that one magnet was curling out on one panel; that's not good. And this method is subject to high winds removing or moving the magnetic sheets, like it does magnets on a vehicle's door when traveling a little too fast.
Why didn't you do both doors for an even or more symmetrical look?
