Wallpaper in bathroom needs help...

We bought a house in Florida and the master bath has this wallpaper which I actually like..(normally I don't like wallpaper). The problem is it has discolored over time and under the photos for example it's more white. It is also turning loose in places. I thought about painting it but read that once you paint wallpaper you can never get it off again. The other option is just stripping it off and doing something else but...I like it! Any suggestions on a safe way to paint it? It won't wash clean, tried that.

The seams are showing which , if painted, would be hidden but I'm reading that I shouldn't paint....thoughts?

If you choose to paint the wallpaper you will pay the price later on with bubbling and peeling.i would remove it and paint he walls instead. You can create that look with a sponging technique

I like the wallpaper texture very much! I would secure any loose parts of the wallpaper to the wall and paint it over. This site recommends using a primer first to make sure you cover the stains. Should turn out beautiful! Good luck!

If you paint it don't paint too many coats or you may loose some of the texture, I would use light coats. I think the way it has discolored actually brings out the texture more.

Yeah but you can't rearrange photos and it looks dingy. You'd have to see it in person...plus some stains that you can't cover. I still am concered about never getting painted wall paper off. I feel like I could just leave it but you can never predict what you might want to do in the future!!!!

That actually looks like a paintable paper. Use a latex paint, and lightly paint the surface whatever color you like. Make sure all edges, bubbles, etc are fixed before you paint.

You might not be able to get the paint off, but I doubt it would keep you from taking off the wallpaper sometime in the future, might be a little more challenging though.

Unfortunately old wallpaper is unpredictable. I've plenty experience in successful and unsuccessful endeavors on painting over them. Have a plan A (successful pant over) and Plan B (paper decides to disintegrate). You can score.over painted wallpaper in order to.get the water to soften the old glue...but sometimes even professionals can't get the old wallpaper off and say its cheaper to RE-hang Sheetrock instead.
