  yes, maybe soaking them for a period of time. Also could try mineral spirits. But maybe a trip to the dollar store for some plain ones would be cheaper.

Dollar store sells the clear, non coated gems, pick up a few bags of those. By the time you spend the time and money on nail polish remover . . . Just an option if you want an alternative.

  Yes, it is hit and miss at mine too for the larger size ones. AC Moore, Michaels, Hobby Lobby,Joann, etc. have them on sale on a regular basis, and when I run ot or think I might need some, I try and get on sale hopefully with a coupon which makes them inexpensive enough.
  
  You might try soaking overnight in vinegar, that might be worth a try too.

Straight up acetone.

Normally the finished is fired on in a kiln and you cannot remove it.
