Best way to remove popcorn ceiling

When we had a popcorn ceiling we just scraped it off and left the texture as is and painted it with rollers. It was not hard just messy and took time. Today I'd probably use my Turbo scrubber and stiff brush on it, ha. Put down drop cloth on floor and over furniture. It will get into everything otherwise

be sure you know when the house was built, ours was built in 2000 so there was no asbestos danger

I'd remove the popcorn ceiling BUT be aware that it may have asbestos in it. It should be done professionally. If you choose to do it, wear a mask so you do not breathe in the asbestos. It's easy using a spray bottle filled with water. Spray, let it soak in then scrape off. That also keeps the asbestos from floating in the air. Most people just paint it to seal in the asbestos, although I do not like that look as it is so dated. Once it is painted, it becomes very difficult to remove at a future date.

Had a Popcorn ceiling removed. Was amazed to learn all the man used was warm water in a spray bottle. He scraped it off with a large plastic putty scraper....we paid $200.00 for this. I could have done that.

Ours did not have asbestos in it. Wear goggles.
