I'm cheap. I'm cheap, I like to make things but I want cheap wood. I don't want to throw away my scrap pile. I buy CHEAP pine common boards from Home Depot and expect them to look expensive. I have to give them some love though and this ohs one way I accomplish that, in all my cheapness.
Pine common or like 3 - 4 dollars a piece for an 8 foot board, depending on the width. So although I bought these boards, their intended projects have happened and these are the free left overs. BUT pine doesn't want to be stained. It can be painted all day long but I want RICH free wood. Cuz. I'm. Cheap. =)
I used three staines to achieve a burned or aged look along with some roughing, and I get into detail on all the hows in my blog post regarding what will be a bench. Hey look, I'm being photo bombed by boxed wine. Now you believe me right? About all the cheap? =)
This might look like a long process but it's really not. You start with some wood conditioner, because as I said, pine doesn't want your stain. Then you're adding your stains, I used three of my favorites on this bench.
Head on over to my blog for all the details on this project and maybe some others that might catch your eye, with out catching your wallet.
