Hello Connie; Your piece of Furniture looks like that it dates from the 1950's.
It has a Colonial look to it.
It is very Beautiful. Also, since it is over fifty years old, it is considered to be an Antique!!
I Personally Love the way that it looks, as is!!
Since this piece is solid wood, you can use any type of paint on it that you desire.
If I were redoing this piece for you, I would first see what kinds of things you Love and Enjoy.
I would see where this piece will be used in your home, and what types of things you have that it will be close to.
If you have a color scheme, in the room that it will be used in, I would incorporate it, so that it will fit nicely.
I hope that this helps you! Take Care and Have fun with your Lovely Cabinet!
Well it kind of depends on your decor to pick a color. Since we don't know what you like it's much harder to help out with that issue. It sounds like you want to make it vintage, so you could remove stain and then just paint an antique cream color so you can apply a floral design on front. Then add layers of sealer. Or you might be able to go metallic and have the insert of doors changed out to glass or mirrors. And then get a mirror for top. You could go a color that you love and paint legs in gold as well as the shelf on top. I would still get glass door inserts. They don't have to be clear glass it could have a different finish. It's a great looking cabinet so I hope that those start your mind going. Have fun.
This is in such good shape, why not use it for a while before painting it? You could still go with your bar theme. Maybe aim for a certain age with the bar accessories, style of glasses etc. I like the idea of the liquor labels. It is surprising how quickly you can acquire things. I somehow got a decanter, then I had two etc. and now have over eleven! These would be great for a bar theme! Think of all the different style glasses! I remember when we drank champagne out of very open shallow glasses, now they are more tulip shaped, then there are all the speciality drink glasses, Manhattans, gimlets, brandy glasses, white Russians, etc. What a fun project. Enjoy it!
Hi, I would just Mirror the internal walls and add Glass Shelves, That's all!
Hello Emily; Thank-You for your note.

Also, I can appraise Anything! I am spot on with prices. I know what I am doing.
Furthermore, I have been to numerous Antique Road Shows.
I go with the Experts. Antiques are Fifty years and Older.
Have a Good Weekend! Take Care!
I would paint the piece a white or black and then put marble contact paper on the two front panels - the high gloss paper
I personally would paint it black add new pull handles and new legs Queen Anne style that will help bring height to it. I have a pic of the new legs ideas below. Adding a mirror back would be much added detail and make people think it was a liquor cabinet. I hope you enjoy my ideas and best of luck to your projectđź“Ś
