If you are okay with the amount of space then go for it. Don't worry what other people think
Why not? It is your house and I have seen multiple garages - just depends upon how configured. Me, personally, 12" is no where near enough work space, but if it works for you, go for it!
If you go to Lowe's or Home Depot, they have Kitchen Planner software, I'm sure. They can probably show you what it will look like.
Would not look odd at all. It would give a clean look. Most people have appliances or canisters under the cabinets out in the open anyway.
Karen is absolutely right. As long as you have what you want/need, and you are happy with it, that's all that matters!
If you're are OK with it and still have enough prep space the go for it and consider having a electrical outlet in them so you pull them out and use then push back out of sight. I currently have my kitchen aide mixer in a cabinet and wish I could find a spot for a garage for it since it weighs so much. Be happy you only have one life so enjoy it and do what makes you happy, you pay the mortgage.
thanks for the comments! I think I will have Home Depot show me what it will look like as that is where I am ordering them.
