You will have to paint it outdoor fabric paint and use a sealer for it

not so much the hard sided campers, but canvas, yes. when you re -spray the water repellent on to the canvas or nylon, the tiny little hairs are what helps it to be water proof and breath. paint will not let it breath, and if on thick , it can crack.

I would be more concerned about if the paint would stay on the canvas once it is folded or rolled up. It may start to crack as soon as it is stretched, unstretched or folded and unfolded.

Patch any tears or grommets, paint with outdoor canvas paint on both sides, add another coat of water resistant paint, covering the original canvas. Enjoy. But the first rule might be: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. 😇

Jewell Martin, I didn't dream there was such a thing as canvas paint, have you used it before and who makes it. The first two answers were exactly what I feared, so having this information will really help! Thank you all for your answers.
