So much a window can do for us. Bring us light, dark, joy, scenery, seasons, little bits of everything. Because of some of the things I listed, I decided to try my hand at a Christmas Window, to bring me joy and season. It was easier then I thought and you can do them for other holidays and occasions to. But for now, I bring you Christmas, just a tiny bit early.
I started by cleaning up a used window, and using a hand sander to distress the wood a little.
I printed out some online sheet music off the internet from a laser printer, in two different sizes.
I laid the sheet music underneath the frame to get a feel for where I wanted to put the sheets.
Next I used my Mod Podge and started gluing them underneath the frame.
You put the Mod Podge on the underside of the frame in the approx size, and then lay your music upside down on top of the Mod Podge.
It should look like this. Doesn't matter if you have extra Mod Podge showing because it all dries clear anyway, so you won't see it.
Make sure and take some type of card or tool with a straight edge and try to lay it as clean as possible. You will get some bubbles, and that's ok because you won't see them in the end, but still use the tool to try and smooth paper down.
When all pieces were on, mine looked like this. Again, there will be some bubble, but you won't see them when it's finished. Now let it dry.
This is how it turned out when flipped over. Looking pretty good
I then ut a design of vinyl with my Silhouette Cameo and put it onto some transfer paper, so I could lay the whole piece on top of the glass as one piece.
This is the design with the transfer tape still on it.
Be sure and use your tool again to smooth down the vinyl, so when you pull the transfer tape off, you'll have smooth letters. I did have a few that had bubbles, but not too many. Now pull of the transfer tape.
Added a little homeade burlap and raffeta bow and good to go! Christmas can be very fun to start, even if it IS a little early yet. It's got me in the mood. Now...wear to hang it......
