Adding a little mudroom to an unused or less needed closet in your main living space can add huge organizational benefits!
Turning a closet under the stairs into a mudroom! This is obviously a lot of storage space but with kids and backpacks and shoes and ... I really needed a mudroom.
I started by cleaning out the closet a bit. Then I went ahead and started adding some molding to the wall because, MOLDING =)
Once the molding was painted, in went the storage bench! BUT I didn't like it =/ The bench was too big and too chunky. So that went upright and against the back wall.
Then I made this little beauty from CHEAP common pine boards. In fact, they were REALLY actually cheap because its all scrap pieces from my wood pile. I aged the bench surface (whole other post) and added the two hairpin legs. Why just two? THEY ARE PRICEY! icon but thats ok! I had my molding in the back I just retro fitted the bench into for the support that it needed to stand up.
