How to make an easy clothes line in your house?

i have a clothes line in my basement-retractable single line big box diy store.

you can use rope as well. my basement is unfinished so an eye hook to attach the line to at either end.

For only a few dollars, you can purchase a retractable clothes line at WalMart or maybe even the dollar store. You hang it wherever you like, then pull out the line and attach it across the room or onto another surface whenever you want to use the clothes line. When you are done with it, you can let it retract back into the case so it is not in your way.

Back in my own olden days when I was apt hunting, there was a neat feature in an apt I looked at. It was a rack of lines to hang clothes from but it was fastened to a pulley that would then lift it to the ceiling. I have clothes lines in my cellar as I like to line dry things like sheets etc. I also have a rack that is in my back hall, it lets down and even when it is up, it is out of range of heads etc. This is a rack I use if outside line dried sheets have not quite dried and it looks like it might rain. Back before washers and driers were standard in homes, housewives had a variety of racks to dry clothes. Check out antique malls and shops and still a standard item is a standing drying rack that folds up when not in use. I remember once on a cruise ship stringing up a line on a balcony to dry some clothes. It was the best drying weather ever because it was the Caribbean. The same can't be said for the weather right now there!

Screw curved hooks into 2 opposing walls or posts, making sure they go into a stud (non-human.) Have the screw part of the hook plenty long so it can support as needed. Tie a rope across. Try to place it high enough so you don't get "hung up" on it.

If you have room in your utility room or a basement, you can buy retractable clothes lines at Walmart and other department stores.

I have these in the basement and one in basement bathroom for after use ing the pool and it's very inexpensive and you can buy it at Walmart.
