Hi, my sister (yup, the same one you may have read about before) dropped the table below off at my house stating "I don't know why I bought this years ago but I just hate it now." I took one look at it and knew it would be perfect for one of her granddaughters. Don't you love it when that happens?

It was a very easy sell to get her to pay for the paint and incidentals to create a keepsake for little Miss Emily.

After taking the doors off and drawers out, I started with a good cleaning. The hinges were awful for the unit, but I learned that you NEVER throw out what you haven't replaced.

The entire unit got several coatings of spray Kilz. Due to heat in the garage it specked up (not an official term). I sanded lightly and put on two coats of white and three coats of pink.

Lesson for the DIYer. Watch temperature when painting. I really struggled getting the paint to properly dry. When working in the garage as most of us do, I have found that paint can 1) dry too quickly and leave streaks, 2) too slowly and never seem to dry. Just FYI #1 is way worse.

We purchased some wooden letters and hearts to put her name in yellow. We found an adorable wooden hanger to paint yellow and hang in the center of a yellow heart on the side.

The hinges were the third set I purchased. They had to fit 1) on the door but 2) over the gap but 3) not be too wide. My hubby put on the hinges and clips to hold the doors closed.

I completed the set with a matching blanket, burp cloth and mini pillow. Hope to get a picture of her opening her gift on Christmas
