I was looking for a French provincial style dresser to redo for my daugter's room. Most of them were still pretty pricey but I found this one and the guy just ended up giving it to me. It was in rough shape but it was solid wood and the drawers opened & closed easily so it was worth the effort!
First it needed to be sanded down! That was not a fun task but luckily it was a thin layer of paint and came off fairly easily
Once it was sanded I painted it. I used a satin finish black to paint the base and top. For the indents I used a really pretty specialty metallic pearly pink from the Ralph Lauren line at Home Depot. It was a little pricey for such a small can (quart size and plenty of leftover for another project) but I felt like I could splurge a little since I got the dresser for free and the color was perfect! It doesn't photograph nearly as beautiful as it is in person! So pretty! 😄
Then came the drawers- I did a color reverse on these to really make them pop! The painting was rough! Trying to get in those grooves was so tedious & time consuming but I was determined to get it right!
I had a little bit of a challenge since this piece was missing the center drawer. The previous owner had just put one of those cheap locker style mirrors in its place. Super ugly!😩 So, I went to Michael's and found this cool wooden medallion piece. I painted over the mirror and painted the medallion and it kind of became a cool accent piece!
Some bling was needed! I ctually loved the original style hardware for the drawers and kept those. But the 2 small drawers had these cheap plastic crystal looking knobs that didn't quite do the trick. Hobby Lonby is the best for fun knobs! These glass ones were just what I wanted!
The final result!
The lighting is terrible but you can see it kind of picks up the pearly metallic finish of the pink.
My daughter loves it and it goes great in her Vintage Hollywood inspired room! Fit for any Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn fan! ☺️
