How to remove terrible smell from handcrafted dolls?

I have some beautiful dolls that have handcrafted crocheted dresses and attire on them ,ones a southern bell,the other an indian princess. I removed them from a drawer to set them up on their stands and they smelled to high heaven,they never did before, How can I get rid of the smell,?can I store them in something and put or spray them with something to get rid of the smell? I have them airing outside ,right now,but the smell isn't leaving,they smell like old,musty crayolas. Help!

Next time store them with cedar blocks,in the mean time pout baking soda on the clothes and air them outside
Place in a bag with some charcoal, and set in the sun for an afternoon. I would also put charcoal in the drawers they came out of.
