DIY Hexagon Wall Shelves-- the EASY Way!

Have you seen the gorgeous wooden honeycomb shelves that keep popping up in boutique stores and online? While I adore the look, I can't afford the high price tag so I figured out how to make them on the cheap-- NO mitre saw or wood involved-- for a fraction of the retail cost. Check out my blog for the full tutorial!
These gold honeycomb wall shelves are easy to make, if you know the secret...
... paper mache hexagon boxes! (source list on blog) Lightly give them several coats of spraypaint in a favorite color. I used gold.
Add them in a pattern to the wall. First, make sure they're level.
Then screw them into the wall. They're light so I didn't use additional anchors.
Use scrapbook paper to cover the backs and hide the screws. I used double sided photo corners to attach it (see blog for product link).
This antler ornament is hot glued right onto the back.
A few more vacation treasures.
Here's a photo of where they sit in the living room-- high enough away from my curious and climbing 3-year-old!
They fit beautifully with our living room, too.
I change the mementos every few weeks to reflect the seasons and display new things. I'm thinking a little plant would look great... spring will be here soon!
