I can't use the actual faucet so I rigged the sprayer with electrical tape and used the metal part so I can at least get a nice spray. I have so much wrong in my house like a leaking roof etc.
I tried to see if I could take the sprayer out but naturally it won't work. Help. I know this is dangerous

Sounds like you need Mr FixIt but that can get expensive. The leaky roof needs replacement ASAP . The leak can cause damage to your home and even release mold that is inside sheet rock used for ceiling and walls. The best thing for faucets is repair or replace. Google the word or phrase or word and you should get a list of sites that will give instructions on how to.

A good investment for any homeowner is a small set of tools: hammer, screw drivers, pliers. If it's still in print Reader's Digest had a book on home repairs that was easy to follow. Amazon probably has a copy and google can find anything along with you tube for vids on how to.

When younger and able to do it, I replaced electrical outlets and one switch(which worked but was upside down). Also did some plumbing repairs like replace washers in leaky faucets and replace the insides of toilet tank.

Your state must have an agency for these situations call you're county offices and apply for assistance that's what these programs are for they are to assist people in need.

If you know the name of the faucet/sprayer manufacturer..give them a call. They might send you a complete replacement if parts aren't available at no charge. Usually even replacement parts are sent free. My sprayer would not retract on my Moen kitchen faucet and they replaced the whole unit at no charge.

When i don't know the manufacture of an item I look for it on a sight that I know sells these items like Amazon or Homedepot. EBay is another good sight to find out information on an item. Just enter the discription in search and keep refining. If the item is not too old you can usually find it on one of those sights. If it's old start with Ebay, they sometimes have old fixtures and appliances.

If your budget allows, get the roof fixed first, then any plumbing which is essential, like your sink. If you go to the library and get a book out on home repairs, see if they have a plumbing section. Look for your sink problem. You can take the book to the sink, you can't do this online, can't bring computer to the sink. Readers Digest is one book I know of. If you look at the book, and know what you need, stop by Homedepot or Lowe's on the way home. You might have everything except a gasket. Good Luck!

The leaky roof. If you have a low income, there may be programs that can help (much like the ones that offer insulations for doors, windows, water heaters, etc. Not sure if there are programs for leaky roofs. Anyone else know of any?

You definitely need to get in touch with Social Services and any oher organizations that help people in your situation. Try Habitat for Humanity. They just don't build houses. They also help in remodelling and updating homes for those who can't. The Salvation Army can help and advise you. Your local village hall may even be able to assist you.

    Good evening,

I was reading all the posts and feel very humbled by the support people display on this site for each other.

I moved 1000 miles (1600km) to be nearerto my ageing parents so they wouldn't be quite in the situation, sometimes the cost isn't that great to fix things initially but over time repairs let go worsen and then costs quickly mount. A friendly neighbour os always a blessing... we should all look to help someone who needs a hand if we have an opporrunity to make some time free.

Good luck and I know there's some people nearby willing to help, you just need to find them.

    Andrew

Depending on what state you are in, if you have a HEAP office and apply for help. From there they will send people out to make an assessment of repairs that need to be done. Then they send different groups out to do insulation, repair roofs, replace windows etc. They will even replace your refrigerator if its to old or doesn't work right. Depending on your gas company some of them will replace your water heater if it needs replaced also. There is a lot of agencies out there to help people in need, you just have to do your research and find them, then go and apply for the help. I'm on HEAP and only have to pay a small amount for my utilities each month. They sent guys out to assess my needs and the biggest thing was my 20 year old fridge. They bought me a brand new side be side of my choice and color. Good Luck and get business doing that rearch and go apply for help, It took me 10 years to set aside my pride and ask for help.
