If you have a bad weather event, that you don't have electricity after the event. for days. This may help you.
In 1964 and 1965 I lived in Key West. Florida we had three hurricanes over that time. We were with out electricity for days. My husband and some other navy men had to help do work around Key West. He came home hungry and tired. I had a hot dinner for him, I cooked like this. I opened the oven door and set a lit candle on the open oven door, I pulled the oven rack out, I used a little pot and fry pan to cook over the candle. You just need to take your time and heat up a little at a time. I browned crumbled hamburger that way. I cooked Posta. I boiled water to make tea and have clean drinking water. You need a good sized candle to do this. By the time we had bad snow storms in Virginia Beach VA in the 1980 I had 3 kids to cook for this way. My kids were so happy to ask kids in the house to have some hot tea with them ,after playing out in the snow. Because this trick was used to boil water for tea. When no one had electricity. Kids went home and told moms what I was doing to heat up things . Some moms came to see how I did it.
Do you see the space that is needed between the pot and the candle? You need a little space.
If you must use candles always set them in a pan of a little water ,so if they would blow over they will burn out fast. I did this trick in 1963 in Oregon's Wind storm If you have a freezer try and stay out of it as much as you can ,cover it with a heavy blanket to help hold the cold for a little longer.
Try and have something behind a candle that will reflect light ,more into the room. As you see, I did in this picture. If you know a bad storm is coming That you might not keep your electricity .wash out your bath tub with a little bleach water then fill your tub with water If your electricity would go out, you need that water . Use a bucket to put water from the tub into the toilet that will be the only way you will be able to flush your toilet. With no electricity. I hope this will help
