Did you hire the inspector, or did the homeowners? Does he have a licence ? Do you have the inspection approval? Leave the mold for now, but call the building inspector in your town, and see what they can do for you, if anything. I'd call the Better Business Bureau, and ask about this inspector and if he's had any complaints against him. Next file a complaint with the Attorney General of your state. Try to do this quickly, so they (inspector), can't say the mold started when you moved in. It was there when you took occupancy, but didn't see it, it was the inspectors responsibility to tell you about that. Also check the BBB about the realtor who showed you the house. If you let me know what state you live in, I could better help you. Take pictures of the mold so you have proof that it was already there. Good Luck!

If your inspector wrote a letter stating all conditions were good then he should be held responsible.I would call your real estate broker first and let them advise you the appropriate steps

if you can prove that the owner knew and didn't disclose, you can try going back to them. The inspector has so many disclaimers that he probably won't be responsible. Call your realtor and see if they can help. Either way, it's dangerous so get rid of it. Good luck

  • Were you provided a one year home warranty? Typically included in the sale of homes. If so contact them and use that policy too.
