Trolls, Monsters, Painted Pumpkins, Oh my!

There's nothing that represents the Halloweens of childhood like pumpkins. Every year I looked forward to picking out the perfect pattern, taping it onto the pumpkin and poking along to outline the pattern.

Then the fun really got started. Cutting open the pumpkin, cleaning it out and spending countless hours trying to carve something that resembled the pattern, I so carefully chose.

The thing is as much as I looked forward to carving the pumpkin each year, it was always harder and messier than I remembered. So this year I decided I wanted something fun without the mess. My solution? Painted pumpkins.

These fun painted pumpkin monsters are perfect for a quick DIY with the kiddos. These painted pumpkin monsters or trolls come any color you like and is easy to customize with any materials you have at home.
The best part about this project is how simple it is to do with materials you have around the house. All you need is a bit of creativity and you'll be good to go!
The first thing you need to do is find the perfect pumpkin. We grew ours, but pumpkins are in abundance this time of year. Grocery stores, farmers markets, roadside stands, and pumpkin patches are all ideal places to find the perfect pumpkin.
Next, pick your colors. We used Amy Howard High Performance Spray Lacquer- Eggplant and Seaside.
Next we added accessories from random things we found around the house.

Our decorations included one giant googly eye, giant craft buttons, dyed angora hair, and alpaca fiber.
When the spray lacquer was dry, we set these cuties on the porch.
Let us know in the comments, what you kind of monster you'd create!
