Yes, Round-Up, mixed a little strong. Add a few drops of liquid dish soap to cut through the oils that coat the leaves. Keeps the round up from just running off the leaves.

Try borax in the morning while the dew is on the leaves. The leaves take it in and kills the plant right down to the root ball which is several feet below surface. Cover any other plants as this will kill them as well. Good luck.

    have you tried salt?

The Roundup didn't work good for me. I used BRUSHTOX BRUSH KILLER. I got it at a Tractor Supply store. I think I paid around $38 for a quart bottle but it is concentrated and treats up to one acre. I had some HUGE poison ivy plants at the back of my property and they are all dead now. I did have to look up the dilution instructions on line cuz they were unclear on the bottle and I was just using a 1 gallon sprayer. It says to add a squirt of dishwasher rinse aid too.

Thanks! Can't wait to try this. Have 2 1/2 acres & in Texas it is turning red so it is easy to see!

Hi Barbara, hope this helps you.

Young seedlings can be removed by simply (and carefully) digging them out with a shovel or pick. Be sure to get the entire plant — roots and all. It's easiest to remove poison oak from loose soil or in spring or fall when the soil is moist. Dispose of your uprooted poison oak plants offsite

You could try Bonide, that will kill it. You might want to contact your local cooperative county extension to see what they recommend. They have master gardeners to help.
