This project is great for a weekend. It takes about 30 hours to complete, which includes drying time. For anyone looking for a little extra storage this is super easy and quick.
I purchased a small wood crate, approx 5x 9. I started with the small crate. These type of crates can be stacked for additional storage so they are nice to customize your space.

I used some stain that I already had in the house. So as you can see from the picture, you only need three things to complete this project.
The crate took about 12 hours to complete since I wanted to stain every side. You will have to allow for drying in order to move the crate around to get to all sides. Actual work time was only about 20 minutes. I had to wait for the stain to dry enough to flip the crate and do the other side. That took about 12 hours. Then I let it set for another 12 hours to dry completely.
I have a separate room for our toilet and the linen closet is not close by, so I wanted to create a space to hold extra toilet paper rolls. This fits the space nicely and was so easy to hang. I just used two standard nails and set the crate on the nails.
from this photo you can tell that the crate is more narrow than the standard crates you get at a hobby or hardware store. I left enough space in case I want to add another crate.
