What can I use to take greenish blue stains off this old washboard?

I purchased this at a garage sale and really want to clean it up alittle to display it in my laundry room. I don't know how to get the green and blue rust or water stains off of it. Any ideas?

It looks like it may be dye or even paint. I'd try paint remover

It appears to be copper clad. Easy - crush some plain old aspirin and mix in just enough distilled water to make it a paste and brush it on with an old toothbrush. It will shine like the original copper finish it should have.

That blue green might be from a lot of denim being washed, but I doubt it. The rest of the washboard is in too good a shape!

Go ahead and use what a laundry would: detergent and bleach. You could even soak it in a bathtub, but dry the wood part completely. If it bleached out some, the washboard will look more authentic. Best wishes 😇

Looks more like a copper wash board with the patina that happens to copper. If so use ketchup on the washboard. Just slather it on and let it sit for awhile. Then wipe off and rinse. Try not to get any on the wood as it may stain. You can tape off the wood to prevent any ketchup getting on it.

Have you tried the rust removal products at stores ? I bought one a very long time ago, and it got some rust out of a piece of upholstery . Sorry I don't remember the name of it.

If it's not copper you could try dishwasher detergent!

This is copper, I have one like it, you need something acidic like ketchup or you can use copper cleaner, do not soak the wood, it could swell and be ruined.

I'd try scrubbing it with a kitchen cleanser.
