This week the JD team completed a master bedroom makeover. The makeover was from top to bottom! The homeowner was ready for new paint color, new furniture, drapes, bedding, lamps, and accessories. Whenever I begin designing for clients, the most important thing is to be an attentive listener to what the client’s vision and overall feel they want for their room. They were delighted with their new master bedroom.
The first step, was deciding on the design style for the master bedroom. They liked the Architectural line from Magnolia Home Furniture.
Here is a before photo of their bedroom. The furniture was the biggest thing that needed updating. The room also needed new paint, lamps, accessories, and draperies.
We painted the room "Sea Salt" from Benjamin Moore. It was a soft blue/green and turned out beautiful! All brand new furniture was added to the room. Beautiful custom drapery panels made all the difference in the world! The drapery fabric had a very muted design. Adding draperies to a room whether they are custom or not can make one of the biggest differences in any design project.
I find most of my client's do really well choosing furniture. The accessories are what becomes more difficult. Even though I own a home decor store, it is very important for me to remain on budget for my clients. I will head to home decor discount stores, and craft stores to find accessories on a budget!
These new bedside table lamps were a great find! When you have a wood table and you need to add a lamp, find one that reflects light. It can be a lamp made of mercury glass, or clear glass like the ones we used. The contrast of the wood and "bling" make a perfect marriage. Be sure to stop by my website for more design ideas.
