Where are you shopping? Home Depot sells a 50 pound bag of Quikrete sand for $2.97 and a 47 pound bag of Quikrete Portland cement mix for $7.15 per bag. Two of us answered with the same link. This question was posted over two years ago, most likely the project has been completed by now. Sorry you feel that way.
This post is almost 3.5 years old. The original question was for a "recipe." In my area the cost is $20 - $35 per 50# bag at today's prices. There are other sites and recipes out there, just Google. What is your project?
