Concrete Boy fountain needs repair.

Judy
by Judy
Below are pictures of my little guy. I bought him without close inspection. Now I see the tubing is broke in the concrete. Don't know how to attach new. Any suggestions would be great or if anybody knows where he could be taken in Dallas tx area.
This is him.
Kind of hard to see but there is plastic tubing inside the hole.
This is Hose from pump and you can see the rough edge of where it broke.
Another view. I hope this helps.

The easy fix for this is to get a drill the diameter of the tubing (take the pump with you to get the drill bit) Drill out the old tubing from the statue so you have enough length inside to glue new tubing in the statue. Then buy new tubing and glue inside your little guy with silicon glue, the kind meant for plumbing so he doesn't leak. Once it's dry attach the new tubing to the pump. Good luck!

I would look for a tube with a smaller diameter and just slide it through the existing hole, assuming it's not blocked. Then re-attach to the pump (you may need a clamp or an adapter to get it to fit at the other end) and your ready to go. Alternatively, I think it looks great just as a statue in the garden.

Jessica C's suggestion is a good one. Home Depot has vinyl tubing in many sizes. I am not sure of how difficult it would be to insert new tubing inside existing tubing. I have several fountains and none of them have the tubing glued inside. I don't think that is necessary. I have easily replaced the worn tubing in my fountains. Perhaps, a plumber or nursery that sells fountains or home supply store can assist you. Good luck.

It may be possible to push out the old tubing with the same size tube and replace it. I'd try adding water or something to ease it out. It should be slippery enough.

Very smart ladies with good answers. I had one also and the ex said" can't be fixed" and i believed him, then got a divorce. :)

Thank you ladies, I notice didn't get any responses from men. They must think it's a loss. But the worst thing would be he would just be a statue. I will try the drill and see if I can get it out. Thanks again.

First clean both surfaces. join botth ends with a hard rubber hose, Fill the bottom of the sculpture with a paste of whitecement with excessive quantity more than the quantity needed to fill up the cavities and then tilt the sculpture to position and hold it tight so that excess cement will flow out surrounding the base of the boy,and give afinish touch to the base with a flat tool. Allow it to set and dry hard for next 24 hours. ,and then start the fountain to work.

Can you take it back to where you bought it and since it's broke maybe they will do the repair for you.

I would take needle nose pliers and gently pull the old hose out just a bit and then clamp a new piece of hose onto the end and attach it to the pump.

I bought the fountain at a estate sale. So no return. Not sure if the pliers will work but going to try the hose diameter is about the size of a dime and and snuggly in there. Again thanks to everybody who has taken time to respond.

Good News, I was able to get my fountain working. I used several of your suggestions. From drilling out the bottom of the boy and inserting a smaller tubing. I actually used ice maker tubing which was a firm tubing. Thanks to everyone!
