Hydrogen Peroxide, Nurses have been getting blood stains out of their clothing for many years this way. Some fabrics may "bleach" out with H2O5 so test your fabric. You can buy a bottle for $1 at the Dollar Tree or inexpensively at any drug store. Simply pour the peroxide on the stain and blot it out with a rag. Continue to do this until the stain disappears. Use only small amounts because you don't want to soak the carpet.

Thoroughly wet the stain with peroxide, let stand 5 minutes, blot, repeat of necessary depending on how much blood there is. Then, after it has tried, follow with some carpet cleaner.

Gently vacuum or remove as much of the dried blood as possible. Working from the center of the stain use a mild soap and water solution and blot continuously as you work outward. You don't want to overly saturate the stain as that will cause it to spread. Once you have finished, allow the spot to dry. If any stain remains try using a carpet spot remover spray called Spot Shot - also blotting as you go.
